Philology (field) the study of oral and historical written language

Philology is an interdisciplinary sub-field of study within Linguistics that concerns the study of oral and historical written language. It belongs to the broader branch of science called Integrated Science. As an interdisciplinary field of study, its constituent disciplines include Comparative Linguistics, Etymology, Historical Linguistics, History, Linguistics, Literary Science, and perhaps others.
